Banana Peel Liquid Fertilizer

This nutrient-packed fertilizer boosts plant growth using simple kitchen scraps.

Ingredients:

  • 4-6 ripe banana peels
  • 2-3 cups water
  • 1-quart jar with lid

Equipment:

  • Knife or scissors
  • Strainer or cheesecloth
  • Container for storing liquid

Instructions:

  1. Collect 4-6 ripe banana peels and chop into 1-inch pieces.
  2. Place peels in a 1-quart jar, filling halfway.
  3. Add water to cover peels fully, then seal the jar.
  4. Store in a cool, dark place for 7-10 days, shaking daily.
  5. Strain liquid into a clean container, discarding or composting solids.
  6. Dilute 1 part fertilizer with 5 parts water (1:5 ratio).
  7. Water soil around plants’ base every 1-2 weeks during growing season.

Tips:

  • Use a 1:10 dilution for delicate plants.
  • Apply in the morning to avoid fungal growth.
  • Store liquid in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Yield: Approximately 2 cups concentrated fertilizer (dilutes to 10-12 cups).
